Education

Christian education is at the very heart of the church. In the educational process the Spirit of God encounters people of all ages so that they are nurtured in faith, grow in knowledge and experience, and are inspired and empowered to live as disciples of Jesus Christ. This call to discipleship compels us to share our faith and serve others in the home, the community, and in God’s world.

Sunday School meets from 9:15-10:15am

(September through May)

2 year old through Kindergarten
meet in a traditional Sunday School format. Children learn Bible stories, sing songs, and make a craft.

Grades 1 – 5 participate in Rotation Sunday School. Each week for five weeks, a “shepherd” will lead the class to a different station (Computer, Music, Drama, Etc.) relating to a common theme. After five weeks, classes switch to a different theme and a new set of stations.

Grades 6 – 9 participate in Confirmation Classes

6th grade focuses on the Old Testament
7th grade focuses on the New Testament
8th  & 9th grades focus on Lutheran theology and the Small Catechism.

St. Peter’s Confirmation Program prepares our youth to confirm their faith, and to become full members of our congregation.  They learn to carry out their faith in study of the Word and doctrine, service, fellowship and other aspects of community.  This is done through experiencing the whole church and its ministries.  Hands on activities and trips are provided to help stimulate discussion and reflection on what it means to be a Lutheran Christian in the world today.

Grades 10-12 – Senior High classes meet in our youth lounge and discuss various faith topics that are relevant to our teenagers.

Adults -  Choose from several course offerings. These classes meet during the Sunday School hour, 9:15 to 10:15 AM, between services.

- Vacation Bible School – St. Peter’s hosts a week of fun and learning at our annual Community Vacation Bible School (VBS). VBS is open to all children, ages four through fifth grade. Each day, the children enjoy songs, a story, activities, a craft, and snacks, all centered around a biblical theme. At the end of the week, the children share their newly-learned songs at a closing celebration.
